Belleruth Naparstek, LISW, BCD
As the founding President and Co-Chair of the Board of Health Journeys, Inc., Belleruth Naparstek is a well-known author, speaker and educator. A guided imagery innovator, she created the popular “Time Warner Health Journeys Guided Imagery” audio series. Her audio programs have been involved in over two dozen clinical trials, with nearly a dozen studies completed to date. Ms. Naparstek’s first book, Staying Well with Guided Imagery, is widely used as a wellness primer. Her second book, Your Sixth Sense, has been translated into eight languages and called “one of the most thoughtful and sophisticated looks at intuition.” Her new book on imagery and post-traumatic stress, titled Invisible Heroes: Trauma Survivors and How They Heal, won the Spirituality & Health Top 50 Books Award. Ms. Naparstek has been practicing psychotherapy for over thirty years, including teaching for several years at The Mandel School of Applied Social Services, Case Western Reserve University and supervising psychiatry residents at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School early in her career.

Patti Leviton, MA
Patti Leviton, MA, is an author, trainer and speaker with over twenty years of experience with guided imagery. Ms. Leviton, the creator of more than thirty guided imagery CDs, has presented for the American Association for the Study of Mental Imagery, the American Psychotherapy Association, and was a keynote speaker at the July 2005 Global Conference on the Role of Traditional Medicine in Reproductive Health. She and her husband, Dr. Charles Leviton, provide a certification program to train guided imagery therapists throughout the United States. The Levitons co-authored Inner Peace – Outward Power, a book and CD including twelve guided imageries to go along with any 12-step program of recovery; and The Conflict Between Us Is the Conflict Within Me, a book about using imagery as a tool in achieving healthy relationships. Ms. Leviton’s first book was The Miracle of Words. Additionally, she is a board member of the American Holistic Health Association.

Tian Dayton, Ph.D., TEP
Dr. Tian Dayton is the Director of Program Development and Staff Training for the Center for Self Development at Caron and Director of The Psychodrama Training Institute at Caron, New York. She is a fellow of the American Society of Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy ASGPP, winner of their scholar’s award, executive editor of the psychodrama academic journal, and sits on the professional standards committee. She is the author of Emotional Sobriety: From Relationship Trauma to Resilience and Balance, The Living Stage: A Step by Step guide to Psychodrama, Sociometry and Experiential Group Therapy, Trauma and Addiction, The Drama Within, Drama Games, Modern Motherhood and ten other titles. Dr. Dayton has a doctorate in clinical psychology and an M.A. in educational psychology. She has presented psychodrama to wide audiences across the U.S. for nearly two decades, integrating action methods into the fields of mental health and addiction.

Martha Schmitz, Ph.D.
Dr. Martha Schmitz offers continuing education workshops and consultation in the treatment of PTSD and substance abuse to clinicians throughout the United States and Canada. She has worked with Lisa M. Najavits, Ph.D., author of Seeking Safety: A Treatment Manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse, since 2000. Dr. Schmitz has held a Staff Psychologist position at the V.A. Pittsburgh Healthcare System and a joint appointment as Assistant Psychologist at McLean Hospital and Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School. She received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri at Columbia after earning her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of California at Davis. She has collaborated on several research projects in both the United States and France. Her clinical and research interests include posttraumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and resiliency in survivors of trauma. Dr. Schmitz currently resides in Oakland, CA where she maintains a private practice.

Cheryl Knepper, MA, LPC, ATR-BC, CCDP
Cheryl Knepper is the Director of Adolescent Extended Care & Special Projects at Caron. As a licensed professional counselor, board certified art psychotherapist and a certified co-occurring disorders professional, Cheryl has worked extensively in the field of co-occurring disorders and adolescent psychiatry over the past twenty years. Prior to working at Caron, Cheryl had been the Clinical Director of Adolescent Services for the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at The Reading Hospital & Medical Center, Reading, PA. While at the hospital she developed, designed and integrated, innovative programming for adolescents with mental health and co-occurring disorders. Cheryl has been a member of the State and Federal Integrated Treatment Workgroup and the Adolescent Sub-committee Workgroup charged with the development of standards and treatment criteria for co-occurring disorders.
